OFFICER'S SWORD OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD INFANTRY, 1860 MODEL, SECOND EMPIRE.
Gilt bronze hilt. Guard decorated with the letter N under an imperial crown placed on a radiating background with a sparkling Jupiter's thunderbolt. Keyboard forming a relief molded plate of the Grand Imperial Arms, decorated quillon with a palmette, rear keyboard bearing the relief inscription "IMPERIAL GUARD" placed on a branch of oak and laurel, it is foldable, stamped on the rear "DELACOUR FbBte DE S.M. L'EMPEREUR A PARIS" and marked "507." Pommeau decorated with the imperial eagle with spread wings. Ebony grip with gilt brass filigree.
Strong triangular blade, white, engraved at the ricasso "Manufacture Impériale de Châtellerault / m de la garde / model 1860." Length 79.50 cm, Width at ricasso 2.4 cm.
Leather scabbard with two brass mounts.
Very good state of preservation, the hilt has retained all its gilding, the blade is perfect, the scabbard without any damage, the two scabbard mounts are in perfect condition but have lost their gilding, very minor cracks on the grip.
