FLAG BEARER'S SASH OF THE IMPERIAL GUARD INFANTRY, Second Empire. 22303-8
Sash made of whitened buffalo leather composed of a 6.3 cm wide banner with raised stitching on each side cut diagonally at its lower end (total length 1.36 m at the top and 1.52 m at the bottom); sewn onto it is a tubular sheath made of whitened buffalo leather with a round section (H 11.5 cm, outer diameter approximately 5.3 cm, inner diameter approximately 4 cm). The sheath also has raised stitching at the top and bottom. The brass fittings of the sash consist of, on one side, a shield with a guilloché border featuring in the center the uncrowned eagle gripping Jupiter's shining thunderbolt in its talons. Above, a lion's head in relief holds three chain links, the lower ends of which are attached to the shield. On the other side, three brass fittings are attached: a rectangular buckle, a bar, and a brass tip in the shape of a small shield.
