STAFF OFFICER'S SWORD, model of the 1st vendémiaire Year XII (September 24, 1803), First Empire.
Gilt bronze hilt, molded guard decorated with foliage and lion's head; crosspiece decorated in its center with an ancient helmet on a background of flags; pommel in the shape of a plumed helmet. Straight quillon decorated with oak and laurel leaves and a spider web-shaped design. Wooden grip entirely filigreed in silver.
Double-edged blade, engraved with military trophies and foliage, gilded and blued on its first third.
Length 82.9 cm, width at the base 2.3 cm, thickness at the base 0.8 cm.
Without scabbard.
Very good condition.
