VICTOR HUEN, AQUARELLE D'UN GARDE D'HONNEUR DU 2eme REGIMENT ET TROMPETTE DU 4eme REGIMENT DES GARDES D'HONNEUR.
Original watercolour signed Victor Huen (1874-1939) and dated 1918, representing full dress cavalrymen. Height: 32 cm; width: 21.5 cm. Perfect condition. Modern frame. Victor Huen was born on 21st March 1874 in Colmar (Haut-Rhin) and died on 15th December 1939 in Nancy (Meurthe-et-Moselle). He was a student in Paris of Gérôme, Bouguereau and G. Ferrier; in Munich, of Zügel and C. Marr. He drew upon his precise knowledge of the old armies to draw. He worked with J.Waltz (Hansi) for the Histoire d’Alsace racontée aux petits enfants d’Alsace et de France. Le Régiment d’Alsace au combat de Heulissen, 18th July 1705, can be seen in the Colmar Museum.
