OFFICER SHAKO PLATE OF THE 42nd INFANTRY REGIMENT, 1837 MODEL, JULY MONARCHY.
Gilt brass plate embossed in relief with the Gallic rooster framed by an oak and laurel branch, on a background of radiant sun, placed on a shield-shaped base with the number 42 in a crown of oak leaves on a background of a bundle of flags.
Condition close to new.
HISTORY:
On October 30, 1836, Prince Louis-Napoléon, landed in Boulogne-sur-Mer, attempted to rally the regiment to his coup d'état, without success. The 42nd thwarted Prince Louis-Napoléon's attempt in Strasbourg through its resistance.
