PORTRAIT MINIATURE DE NAPOLÉON 1er, milieu 19ème siècle.

Miniature sur ivoire, de forme ovale (4,5x5,5 cm), représentant de face l'Empereur en habit de colonel des chasseurs à cheval de la Garde).
Parfait état.
Miniature de très belle exécution, présentée sous verre dans un cadre en laiton, placé dans un encadrement en bois.
Miniature exécutée lors du retour des cendres de l'Empereur en 1840, à l'initiative d'Adolphe Thiers et du roi Louis-Philippe.
En mourant, Napoléon Ier avait manifesté le désir d’être inhumé « sur les bords de la Seine, au milieu de ce peuple français [qu’il avait] tant aimé » dans un codicille de son testament écrit le 16 avril 1821 à Longwood House.
