Round-shaped, made of silver, engraved by Barre, depicting on the obverse the effigy of the Emperor crowned with laurel, surrounded by the legend "NAPOLEON III EMPEROR" and bordered by a laurel wreath. On the reverse side, the inscription "ITALIAN CAMPAIGN - 1859" framing the names of the battles "MONTEBELLO, PALESTRO, TURBIGO, MAGENTA, MARIGNAN, SOLFERINO". Diameter 3 cm. Hallmarked suspension ring.
Ribbon made of silk alternating 6 vertical red stripes of 4 mm and 5 vertical white stripes of 2 mm, bordered by a 1 mm white edge. Width 3.6 cm.
